Whether playing amongst multicolored leaves or dressing up for trick-or-treating, kids find plenty to keep themselves entertained during autumn. Join in the fun with Lincolnwood, IL‘s fantastic fall family activities.

1. Happy Holiday Events

Lincolnwood ushers in the holiday season with a trunk-load of festivities. Speaking of trunks, the fun begins with the Halloween Trunk-or-Treat in the Proesel Park Aquatics Center’s parking lot. Simply dress up in your favorite costume and score some sweet treats from 3 PM to 5 PM in late October. The park (located at 7030 N. Lincoln Ave.) also celebrates Thanksgiving starting bright and early in mid-November with the Turkey Trot.
Travel to nearby Chicago at 1265 West Le Moyne from late September to early Decemb, and you’ll discover the Windy City’s most renowned fall festival: Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up. You’ll have a vast array of activities to choose from: the Halloween-themed corn maze, gem mining, food truck excursions, fortune-telling, crazy photo-ops, and even events like axe-throwing for older members of your crew. Find out why this 10,000-pumpkin-decked destination is a favorite for birthday parties and other gatherings.

2. Merriment and Movies in the Park

Proesel Park, proud home of the Turkey Trot, also serves up movie nights earlier in the season. During late August and early September, families can attend free viewings of beloved classics like Minions: The Rise of Gru. And until October 31, you can participate in game days for families on the outdoor baseball or softball fields or tennis courts with reservations. Soccer play is available year-round, and the pool’s a premier place to warm up.

Haul your whole crew in leisure with the Porsche Cayenne. This spicy five-passenger SUV boasts available creature comforts such as cavernous cargo space, heated and massaging seats, four-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, and a solid suite of safety features like emergency braking.

3. Autumn at Lincolnwood Library

The village library at 4000 W. Pratt Ave. is the best place for children to get caught up on their autumn reading lists. But the book haven keeps things interesting all season long with a host of youth-friendly activities. Challenge the fam at Board Game Mania in mid-September while your youngest children enjoy Toddler Storytime. During Mondays in autumn, get lost in matinee movies for all ages.

Storytimes, some with a musical slant, are in abundance throughout the season. Or, let your inner artist free with the arts and crafts of the autumn-themed Grab-and-Go Maple Leaf Glass Jar and Book Page (using seasonal leaves) activities.
