718 Cayman
The Porsche 718 Cayman represents Porsche's mid-engine sports car philosophy in its most focused form. Compact, lightweight, and engineered for balance, the Cayman emphasizes agility and steering precision above all else.
Unlike rear-engine 911 models, the Cayman's mid-engine configuration places the powertrain centrally within the chassis, optimizing weight distribution and cornering stability. The 718 Cayman lineup begins with a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine producing 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The 718 Cayman S increases output to 350 horsepower from a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four. The 718 GTS 4.0 introduces a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six generating 394 horsepower. At the top of the range, the 718 Cayman GT4 produces 414 horsepower from a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six.
Acceleration reflects the platform's lightweight design. The base 718 Cayman reaches 60 mph in approximately 4.9 seconds with the 7-speed PDK transmission and Sport Chrono Package. Manual transmission options are available across multiple configurations for drivers seeking greater mechanical engagement.
Exterior design remains compact and purposeful. Sculpted side air intakes feed airflow to the mid-mounted engine, while LED lighting signatures maintain brand continuity. Inside, a centrally positioned tachometer, digital displays, and an integrated touchscreen interface maintain clarity and accessibility. The 718 Cayman delivers sports car engagement through precision rather than excess power — where balance, feedback, and control are the point.
Features of the Porsche 718 Cayman
Mid-engine performance architecture
The engine placement centrally within the chassis enhances weight distribution. Cornering balance remains predictable and precise. Steering response benefits from optimized mass placement. The layout defines the Cayman's handling character.
Turbocharged and naturally aspirated engine options
The lineup includes a 300-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four and a 350-hp 2.5-liter in the Cayman S. The GTS 4.0 and GT4 feature naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engines producing up to 414 horsepower. Each engine maintains Porsche's performance identity.
Transmission options
A 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) provides rapid gear changes. A 6-speed manual transmission is available for direct engagement. Both options maintain precise shift feel and consistent acceleration.
Porsche Active Suspension Management
PASM adapts damping forces in real time, enhancing both ride comfort and dynamic stability. Handling precision remains central. Stability is maintained under aggressive cornering.
Compact aerodynamic design
Sculpted side air intakes improve airflow to the engine. Integrated aerodynamic elements enhance stability. The compact footprint improves maneuverability. Design remains purposeful.
Driver-focused cockpit
The centrally positioned tachometer reinforces sports car orientation. The touchscreen integrates navigation and smartphone connectivity. Controls remain ergonomically positioned. The cabin emphasizes clarity and engagement.
