2020 Cayenne vs 2020 Audi Q7

The Porsche Cayenne has long been a luxury SUV offering something different from other luxury brands. While most competitors primarily focus on comfort, Porsche places just as big a priority on performance. However, as the 2020 Cayenne proves, strong performance doesn't mean sacrificing comfort.

Since the debut of the Cayenne in 2003, Porsche has spent time and research finding the perfect balance of luxury and performance in a midsize SUV. The all-new third-generation model is one step closer to that perfect recipe.

The base trim level of the Porsche Cayenne comes with a 3.0-L V-6 engine providing lots of power at the entry price.

The Cayenne's impressive performance, sharp handling, and vivid feel make it the perfect SUV for drivers who want the space of an SUV, but the power of a sports car. To prove it, we're putting our favorite luxury sport SUV, the 2020 Porsche Cayenne, against the 2020 Audi Q7, in a side-by-side comparison.

Power and Performance of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

The 2020 Porsche Cayenne is one of the few SUVs that can rival a high-performance sports car in handling and acceleration capability. The Cayenne is offered with three different engines and four powertrain options, though every powerplant is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.

With two rows of leather-trimmed seats for five people, the 2020 Porsche Cayenne includes 8-way power front seats. Options include 14-way front-seating power with 4-way power lumbar support, 18-power front sports-style seats, front- and rear-seat heating, rear-seat ventilation, a heated steering wheel, and front-seat massaging ability.

For comfort and convenience, the Cayenne has a dual-zone automatic climate control, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free calling and audio streaming, five USB ports, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a 10-speaker sound system, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment integration with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and navigation.

To start, we’ve taken the horsepower and torque of both the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7. When considering towing capacity, the Porsche Cayenne is clearly the choice over the Audi Q7 for pulling heavy loads. When it comes to horsepower, the Cayenne greatly out-muscles the Q7. On speed, the 2020 Porche Cayenne is a clear winner with the base model able to reach a top speed of 152 mph (over 20 mph faster than the Audi Q7).
